![]() Hello Ed, I have attached a picture from a couple of months ago of my son standing next to me in Iraq. Both of us have been deployed for a year now and I thought you might be interested in a short update. Donald’s second tour of duty ended today as he started his long trek via Kuwait back home to his family. He has spent nearly 18 months over here during the last 3 years of combat. Both he and his buddies have accomplished some phenomenal achievements for the Iraqi people and ultimately for the security of the United States. I am very proud of him. There has been sacrifice and loss on many levels from Soldiers and Marines, but it has not slowed down our determination or vigor. As for me, I am also getting short and will head back to CONUS in due time. It has been a long road and we continue to make a huge difference in a noble fight that will have a lasting impact on our way of life and the future of many people who have never tasted the freedom many sometimes take for granted. I appreciate your continued support and wish you well. By the way, Lance Corporal Cooper really loves his Martin knife. Take care and Semper Fidelis, Mark Cyr ![]() LCpl Cooper holding his Martin Knife and Marine Bible ![]() Hello Ed, I hope all is well with you and your family. I am sending this quick note in order to update you with my new email address in theater and also to send a picture of me with the knife that you made me in December. ![]() ![]() SPC Thapa receiving Army Commendation Metal with Valor and a Martin Knife. Good here, staying busy, getting ready for Drill Instructor school. I never told you this but your knife put the fear of darkness in some insurgents over there. It was a good intimidation factor ! I haven't talked to my uncle in awhile, but I'm going to call him soon. Hey, I forgot to ask you for a diamond sharpener for Excalibur. Do you have one that I can glue to the sheath? I am really pleased with it. I gave the brochure I had to some guys over there, I wonder if any of them bought a knife. Send me a few more and I'll pass them out, I'm sure a few guys would order one. Your pal, Joe ![]() ![]() Gary Neely wearing a Martin ![]() ![]() Newton , Please forgive me for not getting a picture, as promised, to you sooner. Unfortunately my son, Spc Joseph Bowen, 2 - 14 Cavalry medic (Shown Above) has not been able to upload a good picture containing the knife I got from you guys for him. You may recall it was a tanto point utility knife that you carry and suggested for him. So attached is the best picture of him carrying the knife that I have. It was taken during a break at the Tigris river in northern Iraq. Thanks for your efforts to get this knife to me so quickly back in January. He has said it has served him well.
