The knives offered for order here are an alternative to the tactical knives found in Catalog One.   These are great hard use knives that more economically priced.  We have extensively tested them and they have performed admirably.  However, they are custom handmade knives and you may want to customize them to your liking, so we have included a customizing options section for your convenience. 

STEEL:  The basic knife steel is 1095 HC or 440C.  These are tried and true steels that will do you a great job.  We differentially heat treat the 1095 HC.  We triple temper them and give them one cryogenic freeze to make sure they are the best they can be. 

BLADE: We use a convex edge unless you specify the old flat edge.  We put a convex edge because we believe it holds up longer and is stronger than the flat edge. 

FINISH:  On our basic models we can do a subdued or satin finish.  Parkerizing is an option on the 1095 HC.

HANDLE:  The basic knife handle is black or brown (natural) canvas Micarta.  The brown (natural) starts out tan and turns browner with age and use.  We epoxy the handle scales onto the knife and pin them with your choice of several different kinds of pins.  Spring pins (roll pins) are one choice.  We think they are a good choice because they exert outward pressure, which gives you that extra holding power.  We can also fill them with epoxy if you want.   You also have the choice of aluminum or brass hollow or solid pins.  Other pin and bolt/screw options are listed in the "customizing options" section.   Also there are many choices for handle materials to "dress up" the knife should you choose to.

SHEATH:  We offer the a Kydex vertical carry sheath for most of these knives as the basic sheath.  See customizing options for other sheath options.
